No Hermann Express on Memorial Day weekend

Brown County Hermann Express will not be operating on Saturday May 24th, or Monday May 26th. Brown County Heartland Express will not be operating on Sunday May 25th, or Monday May 26th in honor of Memorial Day. Please call the office at 507-359-2717 or 800-707-2717 by 3 pm Friday May 23rd to schedule your ride for Tuesday May 27th.

First half of county property tax installment due

The Brown County Auditor-Treasurer’s Office would like to remind County property owners that the first half property tax installment for residential, commercial, and agricultural parcels is due Thursday, May 15. Payments must be received or postmarked by the due date to avoid penalty. Property tax payments can be made in person at the Auditor-Treasurer’s office in the Brown County Courthouse, or at the Brown County License Bureau. Catholic Order of Foresters donates to cemetery

The St. John’s Court of the Catholic Order of Foresters presented two checks, totaling over $3,300 to the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery. The matching grant fund raiser was raised by the courts sausage supper held in January. The court thanks New Ulm and the surrounding area for their support.

‘Eight Men Out’ the series opener for NU Film Society

NEW ULM – It’s a new ballgame as the New Ulm Film Society starts its baseball film series with the historical drama “Eight Men Out.” The screening starts at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 13 in the New Ulm Public Library. “Eight Men Out” was released in 1988 and tells the true story of the 1919 Chicago White Sox and how several of the players allegedly took money to throw the World Series. NEW ULM - The Red Cross will host a blood drive at the New Ulm Community Civic Center at 1212 N. Franklin Street Wednesday, May 14 through Friday, May 16. Donations can be made from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 14; 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, May 15 and 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 16.
