Vehicles crash, 3 hurt

Staff photo by Fritz Busch The Minnesota State Patrol responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of State Highway 4 and Brown County Road 22, seven miles south of Sleepy Eye at 5:32 p.m. Thursday. A 2004 Ford Crown Victoria driven by Grant L. Augustin, 41, Springfield, was westbound on CR 22 when it collided with a 2001 Nissan Xterra driven by Alexis Y. Olgvin, 23, Sleepy Eye, who was southbound on Highway 4. The Ford collided with the Nissan in the driver’s side rear, rotating the vehicle counter clockwise, flipping it onto the passenger side. The Nissan entered the ditch and rolled onto its roof. Olgvin, who wore at seat belt, was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. Two passengers in the Nissan, Juanita Hernandez, 45, Comfrey, and Jesus H. Olgvin, 24, St. James, were transported to Sleepy Eye Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. Both passengers wore seat belts. Another passenger, Juan Hernandez, 3, Sleepy Eye, wore a seat belt and was not injured. Augustin and a passenger in the Ford, Jean M. Korkemeier, 48, Springfield, both wore seat belts and were not injured. The Brown County Sheriff’s Office and Sleepy Eye Police, Fire and Ambulance assisted.
