• Juan E. Tenorio, 55, 424 S. Broadway, New Ulm, was charged with felony 3rd-degree assault-substantial bodily harm, gross misdemeanor 3rd-degree DWI-0.08 within two hours, misdemeanor 4th-degree DWI and misdemeanor driver must carry proof of insurance when operating vehicle.

According to court documents, New Ulm Police were dispatched to a fight at Rodney’s Tavern at 1:30 a.m., June 18. Dispatch said one of the individuals leaving the bar in a silver car headed the wrong way down Minnesota Street.

At the scene, police saw face down, motionless in front of Rodney’s Tavern. Police stopped the silver car after it went the wrong way on Minnesota Street without lights on and identified the driver as Tenorio, who showed intoxication signs and his hands and arms were bloody. A Preliminary Breath Test read .244 and Tenorio was arrested for assault and DWI. A breath test using a Datamaster indicated a .21 blood alcohol content at 2:45 a.m.

A victim, being loaded into an ambulance, told police he did not know why he was assaulted and did not know Tenorio. Other witnesses told police Tenorio knocked the victim unconscious but did not know why. Tenorio told police he owned the car but had no insurance on it.
