ST. JAMES – The Sleepy Eye Legion Post 7 baseball team ran past Springfield Post 257 by a score of 12-4 on Saturday in the Senior Legion DII Southwest Sub-State Baseball Tournament Semifinals. While Springfield scored first for two runs in the bottom of the first, Sleepy Eye scored 12 unanswered to run away with the win. Sleepy Eye had 15 hits to Springfield's seven. Sleepy Eye also kept its errors to a minimum by committing one to Springfield's six. JAMES — The Springfield Legion Post 257 baseball team held off Luverne 6-5 on Friday evening in a Senior Legion DII Southwest Sub-State Baseball Tournament quarterfinals game. MANKATO — The fourth-seeded New Ulm VFW Silver held off a late rally by the top-seeded Marshall VFW Orange on Friday night, winning 7-3 in the VFW District 2 Baseball Tournament semifinals at Wolverton Field.
