MLC sees 3 women’s basketball players earn All-UMAC honors

ST. PAUL — The Martin Luther College women’s basketball team received three All-UMAC selections on Wednesday.

Jordyn Heckendorf earned a First Team selection after leading the conference in apg (3.4). The senior also led MLC in scoring (12.4 ppg) and was a threat out on the perimeter for opposing teams, recording 2.1 spg, which was second on the Knights in the 2023-24 season.

Heckendorf finished her MLC career with 21 points and four assists. The senior leaves the Knights’ women’s basketball program in fifth-place all-time in career points scored (960) and fourth all-time in career assists (260).

Emma Nelson earned Honorable Mention recognition in addition to Heckendorf. Nelson finished fourth in the UMAC in rebounds per game (7.6) and picked up seven double-doubles this past season. The senior averaged 10.5 ppg in just 19 games played.

Lauren Paulsen was also voted to the Honorable Mention team and was one of the five players in the conference named to the Defensive All-Conference team. Paulsen wrapped up her junior campaign by leading MLC in overall rebounds (178), blocks (21), and steals (58), showcasing her versatile skillset as a defender.

Junior Maya Price was chosen as the individual recipient for the sportsmanship award, representing MLC with their core values on and off the court.
