Larson, New Ulm hold off Marshall in legion baseball

MARSHALL — Hunter Larson pitched a complete game for the New Ulm Legion Gold on Tuesday, helping the Gold hold off Marshall 2-1 in a legion baseball game. Larson allowed just three hits and one walk for one earned run in the win while striking out three. He threw 90 pitches. He also was 1 for 4 with an RBI at the plate. Candon Briggs was 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI to lead the Gold, while Zach Hubbard was 2 for 4 with a triple and Jake Finstad was 1 for 2 with a double.

He started in the second row behind Dan Menk and tailed him for the first two laps and then passed him on the inside going down the backstretch to take the lead and led the entire rest of the distance as Dan tried to regain the lead several times but he had to settle for second behind Looft.
