SLEEPY EYE — Sleepy Eye swept Lester Prairie 13-3 and 17-4, both in five innings, in a Tomahawk Division softball doubleheader on Thursday.
Taylor Berkner won Game 1 for the Indians, striking out 9 while allowing three runs on two hits. At the plate, Berkner was 3 for 4 with four RBIs and a home run, while Callie Evers was 2 for 4 with two RBIs. Jaelynn Schauman was 2 for 2 with two RBIs and three runs scored.
Berkner won Game 2 as well in the circle, striking out nine while allowing four runs on three hits. At the plate, Berkner was 4 for 4 with six RBIs and four doubles, while Callie Evers was 2 for 4 with a double, a triple and four runs scored. Jace Schauman was 2 for 5 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
Sleepy Eye (3-0) plays at Mountain Lake Area on Friday.

WABASSO 14, BLHS 0 (5 innings, Game 2)
WABASSO — Wabasso rolled Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart 11-1 and 14-0, both in five innings, in a Tomahawk Division softball doubleheader on Thursday.
Aylah Jenniges picked up the win in Game 1 for Wabasso, striking out nine while allowing one run on two hits. At the plate, Audrey Johnson was 3 for 4 with three RBIs and a run scored, while Kayleigha Johnson was 2 for 2 with two RBIs and Macy Rohlik was 2 for 3 with two RBIs and a run scored. Sarah Carlson added a hit, an RBI and three runs scored.
Chloe Schultz took the loss for BLHS, striking out two and allowing 11 runs, six earned, on 13 hits.
In Game 2, Delania Eis earned the win for Wabasso, striking out six and allowing one hit and no runs in five innings. At the plate, Eis was 4 for 4 with four RBIs and three runs scored, while Camryn Irlbeck was 3 for 4 with an RBI. Rohlik was 3 for 3 with three RBIs and four runs scored, and Johnson was 1 for 3 with two RBIs.
Addison Gee took the loss for BLHS, striking out one and allowing 10 earned runs on 16 hits in five innings.
Wabasso (3-0, 2-0) plays at Russell-Tyler-Ruthton on Friday. BLHS (0-2) hosts Madelia on Friday.

NEW ULM — Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton topped Minnesota Valley Lutheran 16-7 in a nonconference softball game on Thursday.
Norah Rodewald took the loss for MVL, allowing 10 runs, one earned, on five hits in three innings of work. Nora Grace Otto made the start, striking out four and allowing six runs, four earned, on 11 hits. At the plate, Jess Meunier was 2 for 3 with a run scored, while Morgan Black was 2 for 2 with an RBI. Otto added a hit and two RBIs. MVL (0-3) hosts Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther on Friday.

MOUNTAIN LAKE — Mountain Lake Area defeated Nicollet 7-4 in a nonconference softball game on Thursday.
Brielle Osborne took the loss for the Raiders, striking out one and allowing three earned runs on five hits in six innings. At the plate, Lydia Martens was 3 for 4 with two RBIs, while Taylor Wilking was 3 for 4 with an RBI. Jazmyn Goettlicher had a double and an RBI, and Chloe Kachelmeier had a triple.

TRUMAN — Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther edged by Madelia 9-8 in a Valley Division softball game on Thursday.
Emmy Jacobs took the loss for the Blackhawks, striking out one and allowing three runs on two hits in 2/3 of an inning. Addison Odegard made the start, striking out seven and allowing five runs on nine hits in 6 innings. At the plate, Alicia Lugo was 3 for 4 with three runs scored, while Johnson was 2 for 4 with four RBIs. Kellie Koberoski was 2 for 4 with three RBIs.

NEW ULM 13, WASECA 3
WASECA — New Ulm cruised by Waseca 13-3 in a Big South Conference baseball game on Thursday.
Dirk Haynes earned the win, striking out six while allowing three hits and two runs in four innings. At the plate, Levi Hopp, Owen Castleman, Candon Briggs and Tanner Backer each had two hits, while Zach Hubbard had a hit and three RBIs.
New Ulm hosts St. Peter on Friday.
CATHEDRAL 12, GFW 2
FAIRFAX — Cathedral defeated Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop 12-2 in a Tomahawk Division baseball game on Thursday.
Evan Blekestad earned the win for the Greyhounds, striking out three while allowing one unearned run on two hits in four innings of work. Nathan Murphy pitched three innings, striking out five and allowing one run on one hit. At the plate, Eli Anderson was 2 for 3 with tow RBIs and a run scored, while Josh Forstner was 2 for 5 with an RBI and a run scored. Alex Portner added two hits and two runs scored.
Kaden Rieke took the loss for GFW, striking out one and allowing seven runs on five hits in 2 1/3 innings. At the plate, Kolfax Rose was 2 for 3, while Rieke had an RBI.
A second game was stared, but was suspended after three innings due to weather. Cathedral held a 9-4 lead at the time the game was suspended.
Cathedral (2-0, 1-0) plays at Madelia in Searles on Friday, while GFW (0-2, 0-1) plays at Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s on Friday.

SLEEPY EYE — Springfield swept a Tomahawk Division baseball doubleheader on Thursday, winning 6-4 in Game 1 and 9-3 in Game 2.
Ely Streich led Springfield at the plate in Game 1, going 2 for 4 with a double and two runs scored, while Adiel Trevino homered and drove in two runs.
Madden Lendt got the win in six innings, allowing three hits and a walk for one earned run while striking out nine.
For St. Mary’s in Game 1, Merrick Mathiowetz was 2 for 4 with a homer. Merrick Mathiowetz took the loss on the mound in four innings, allowing three hits and six walks for two earned runs while striking out seven.
In Game 2, Lendt was 2 for 3 with a homer and four RBIs to lead the Tigers, while Trevino was 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI. Noah Mueller got the win on the mound in five innings of work, allowing six hits and three walks for three earned runs while striking out two.
Adam Braulick and Tyler Mathiowetz each went 2 for 4 with a double each for the Knights in Game 2. Tyler Mathiowetz took the Game 2 loss in three innings, allowing eight hits and four walks for seven earned runs while striking out seven.

FAIRMONT — New Ulm swept Fairmont 7-0 in a Big South Conference boys tennis match on Thursday.
No. 2 singles Dan Brownfield swept Jonah Vettner 6-0, 6-0, while No. 1 singles Charlie Weidman topped Tyler Slama 6-1, 1-6, 10-6. No. 3 singles Isaac Dittmer defeated Lilly Ortega 7-5, 6-2, while Griffin Lehne defeated Hudson Clayton 6-1, 6-0. No. 1 doubles Wyatt Feucht and Thomas Lehne downed Zach Ashland and Audina Suckow 6-1, 6-1, No. 2 doubles Ryan Johnson and Everett Brown defeated Leander Nelson and Parker Olson 1-6, 7-6, 10-8, and Cole Frederick and Hayden Owens topped Aiden Mutschew and Jenson Schomberg 6-2, 6-4 at No. 3 doubles.

FAIRFAX — Springfield controlled a Tomahawk Division golf meet at Mayflower Country Club on Thursday, with the boys team and girls team both earning wins over Cedar Mountain.
Carson Schiller of Cedar Mountain was the boys medalist with a 45, while Springfield’s Dylan Simonson took second with a 46 and Springfield’s Erik Davis shot a 47 for third. Springfield’s Colten Sell shot a 50 for fourth, while teammate Tayte Zihlke carded a 51 for fifth and Cedar Mountain’s Isaac Potter shot a 52 for sixth.
Ava Lipetzky shot a 49 for Springfield to finish as the girls medalist, while teammates Mavri Winkelmann shot a 50 for second and Annie Kuehn shot a 52 for third. Cedar Mountain’s Jaylyn Welter shot a 54 for fourth, while Springfield’s Kynslee Kastner and Willow Krueger shot a 56 and 57 for sixth and sixth, respectively.

SLEEPY EYE — The Sleepy Eye United boys golf team won a prep golf triangular at Sleepy Eye Golf Club on Thursday.
The girls’ side of the meet was won by Russell-Tyler-Ruthton.
SEU’s Nolan Kucera and Blaine Arneson were boys co-medalists with a 36, while teammate Anders Coulson shot a 39 to take third. RTR’s Jonah Norgaard took fourth with a 40, while New Ulm Cathedral’s Jack Griebel and SEU’s Isaac Christensen tied for fifth with 41s.
RTR’s Teigyn Oleary was the girls medalist with a 40, while teammate Izzy Thomas and SEU’s Sam Price shot 45s to tie for second. RTR’s Leah Norgaard shot a 49 to take fourth, while SEU’s Kiara Murphy carded a 50 to take fifth and Cathedral’s Emma Hoffmann shot a 52 for sixth.
