NEW ULM – The Madelia Blackhawks used eight hits and the same amount of Minnesota Valley Lutheran errors to down the Chargers 10-3 Thursday in a nonconference baseball game at Mueller Park.
Dalton Daltro — the second of four pitchers used by the Blackhawks in the game — got the win.
Rogan Scriver took the loss for the Chargers
He went 1 2/3 innings and allowed five runs.
Bryce Borkenhagen and Zach Jacobs each had two hits with Borkenhagen and Jacobs each driving in two runs.

Connor Bode had two hits for the Chargers with Blake Sexton driving in two runs.
Despite the loss, MVL head coach Micah Degner was not disappointed.
“I am actually super-happy.” he said. “Madelia is a really good team — they are going to be a ranked team in Class A. Three of their four pitchers are the best that we are going to see this year. We competed — we were not over matched [five hits]. We just made eight errors. That was the difference — otherwise it’s a competitive game.”
Of the 10 runs scored by Madelia, only two were earned.
Madelia used two of those errors to score three runs in the first and then plated two more runs in the second on one hit and two more errors.

The Blackhawks made it an 8-0 game with three more runs in the fourth on doubles from Borkenhagen and Tate Becker and another error.
The score grew to 9-0 in the top of the fifth on a Tony Zaleski double and an outfield error.
A Blake Sexton two-run single in the bottom of the fifth cut the lead to 9-2 before Madelia added a run in the sixth
MVL scored its final run in the seventh on a wild pitch.
“For where we are at in the season, I am super-happy,” Degner said. “If we see those guys later in the year, we will put more balls in play. For a lot of our guys those were as as competitive as arms as they have seen.”
The Chargers are at Mankato Loyola on Monday.
