GFW 76, Sleepy Eye 65
GIBBON — No. 7 Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop topped No. 10 Sleepy Eye 76-65 in the Section 2A Boys Basketball Tournament on Tuesday.
Cole Jacobson scored 43 points for the Firebirds, while Owen Swenson had 9 and Kaden Rieke had 8.
Robert Romberg led the Indians with 26 points and eight rebounds, while Braylon Nelson had 15 points and 10 rebounds and Eric Lozano had 14 points.
GFW (16-11) plays No. 2 Madelia at Sibley East High School Thursday at 6 p.m. Sleepy Eye ends its season with a 13-14 record.
Springfield 73, MCW 39
SPRINGFIELD — No. 3 Springfield rolled No. 19 Martin County West 73-39 in the Section 2A Boys Basketball Tournament on Tuesday.
Bryan Buerkle led the Tigers with 19 points and seven rebounds, while Parker Kuehn had 15 points and seven rebounds. Madden Lendt added 12 points and eight rebounds.
Springfield (21-6) plays No. 6 Mankato Loyola at 7:45 p.m. at Sibley East High School on Thursday.
Nicollet 84, NRHEG 69
NICOLLET — No. 5 Nicollet defeated No. 12 New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva 84-69 in the Section 2A Boys Basketball Tournament on Tuesday.
Henry Kennedy led the Raiders with 22 points, 11 rebounds and five assists, while Carson Kettner had 17 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists. Keegan Hulke added 11 points, five rebounds and five assists.
Nicollet (22-6) plays No. 4 Mayer Lutheran Thursday at 7:45 p.m. at St. Peter High School.
Madelia 90, USC 50
MADELIA — Second-seeded Madelia cruised by No. 15 United South Central in the Section 2A Boys Basketball Tournament on Tuesday.
Dalton Tatro led the Blackhawks with 33 points and seven rebounds, while Kaydon Firchau had 27 points, six assists, seven rebounds, six steals and two blocks. Bryce Borkenhagen had 7 points and 13 rebounds, and Caden McMullen had 9 points and 10 rebounds.
Madelia (21-5) plays seventh-seeded GFW Thursday at Sibley East High School at 6 p.m.
Cleveland 73,
St. Mary’s 61
No. 9 Cleveland downed No. 8 Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s 73-61 in the Section 2A Boys Basketball Tournament on Tuesday.
Adam Steffensmeier led the Knights with 24 points and nine rebounds, while Eli Christensen had 13 points. Michael Balko had 12 points and four rebounds.
St. Mary’s ends its season with a 14-13 record.
