MINNEAPOLIS — The Martin Luther College baseball team had its 2026 season opener against Minnesota Morris Tuesday morning for a nonconference matchup, playing each other on not just any neutral site, but instead played on the Minnesota Vikings turf at U.S. Bank Stadium.

With the stadium all to themselves for about five hours, the schools got a doubleheader of 7-inning games in with the Cougars beating MLC 9-2 in game one and 6-0 in the second contest.

Parker Winghart was 2 for 3 to lead MLC at the plate in Game 1, while Jackson Anderson was 2 for 4 with a run scored. Ethan Melson took the loss on the mound for MLC.

In Game 2, Micah Herbst was 1 for 1, while Anderson was 1 for 3 and Carlos Walta was 1 for 3. Aidan Berg took the loss in Game 2 on the mound.

MLC baseball will move on to a four-game series with Hamline University in Topeka, Kansas, with the first game starting at 12 p.m. on Saturday, February 28.

Starting at $4.50/week.
