SRPINGFIELD — The Springfield Tigers had seven players in double figures as they ran away for a 102-38 win over New Ulm Cathedral on Tuesday in a Tomahawk Division boys basketball game.
Springfield (20-6, 15-1) was led by Bryan Buerkle’s 19 points, 11 rebounds and three steals, while Parker Kuehn had 15 points and three steals, Madden Lendt had 12 points and six rebounds and Tyson Horkey had 12 points. Dylan Simonson and Brecken Heiling each had 11 points, with Simonson adding eight rebounds and Heiling adding six, while Braxton Brown had 10 points, four assists and four steals.
No statistics were provided for Cathedral (8-18, 5-11), who begins the Section 2A playoffs Friday by hosting Martin County West.
Cedar Mountain 69, BLHS 57
HECTOR — Cedar Mountain topped Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart 69-57 on Tuesday in a Tomahawk Division boys basketball game.
Thomas Dahmes showed out for the Cougars (5-20, 3-13) in the win with 30 points, 12 rebounds, four assists, four steals and two blocks, while Carson Schiller had 18 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals and Blake Koerner had 10 points and five rebounds.
No statistics were provided for BLHS (1-24, 0-16).
Both teams begin Section 2A playoffs this Friday, with the Cougars traveling to Granada and the Mustangs traveling to take on New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva.
Maple River 69, MVL 60
MAPLETON — Minnesota Valley Lutheran dropped its final game of the regular season on Tuesday with a 69-60 loss at Maple River in a South Central Conference boys basketball game.
MV (15-10, 5-5) was led by Pierson Brau’s 17 points and five rebounds, while Connor Bode had 15 points and four assists and Ethan Schauland had 10 points and six assists. Blake Sexton added 9 points for MVL.
Section 2AA playoffs begin at the high seed on Tuesday.

Madelia 67 (OT)
LAKE CRYSTAL — Madelia fell to Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial 78-67 in overtime on Tuesday in a nonconference boys basketball game.
The game was tied at 30-all at halftime and 65-65 at the end of regulation.
Madelia (20-5) was led by Kaydon Firchau’s 35 points, five rebounds and two blocks, while Tate Becker had 12 points and seven rebounds and Bryce Borkenhagen had 12 points, three steals and two blocks.
Madelia’s hosts a Section 2A playoff game on Tuesday against an opponent to be determined.
