CMC 74, St. Mary’s 70

PRINSBURG — Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s suffered its first loss to the season as Central Minnesota Christian defeated the Knights 74-70 in a nonconference girls basketball game on Monday.

Olivia Schieffert surpassed 1,000 career points in the loss with 21 points, six rebounds, five assists and four steals, while Morgan Mathiowetz led the Knights with 26 points, 10 rebounds, six assists and three steals. Kylie Pelzel added 8 points for St. Mary’s.

St. Mary’s (17-1) plays at Cedar Mountain on Tuesday.

LAKE CRYSTAL — Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial defeated Minnesota Valley Lutheran 60-51 in a South Central Conference girls basketball game on Monday.

Ziva Zahrt had 10 points and five rebounds, while Violet Hammer had 10 points and three rebounds. Olivia Hammer added 8 points and two rebounds.

MVL (10-7, 3-2) hosts St. Clair on Thursday.
