Eagles to host Red Bulls, United on Mental Health Night

NEW ULM — The No. 4-ranked New Ulm Area Eagles wrestling team will host the Martin County Red Bulls and Dawson-Boyd/Lac Qui Parle Valley/Montevideo United in a prep wrestling triangular on Tuesday evening on Mental Health Night.

The pep band will also be playing and the evening will kick off with United taking on Martin County at 5 p.m. The Eagles will then take on United at approximately 6:15 p.m. and end the nights with a dual against the Red Bulls around 7:30 p.m.

The Eagles currently have five Class AA-ranked wrestlers by The Guillotine. Regan Johnson is ranked 10th in the state at 114 pounds, while his twin brother Kane Johnson is ranked fifth at 139 pounds. At 145 pounds, Elijah Rieser is ranked sixth, while Lane Ruch is ranked ninth at 189 pounds and Emmerson Johnson is ranked seventh at 285.

United was included in the last Lean and Mean team rankings for The Guillotine, ranking just outside the top 12 teams in Class AA. For United, Eli Olson is ranked fourth at 114 pounds, while Ben Gunlogson is ranked third at 139 and Kameron Sather is third at 160.

For the Red Bulls, Pierce Rohman is currently the No. 1-ranked 133-pounder in Class AA, while Torrey Paplow is ranked sixth at 152 and David Miller is ranked eighth at 285.

NUA is fresh off a team win at the Tom Keating Invitational in Foley, where the Eagles saw Chase Wilson (107), Regan Johnson (114) and Alex Portner (127) finish as their bracket’s champion.
