NICOLLET — Sleepy Eye downed Nicollet 66-54 in a nonconference girls basketball game on Monday.
Taylor Berkner led the Indians with 26 points, 12 rebounds, five steals and three assists, while Jaelynn Schauman had 17 points, eight rebounds and three steals. Jace Schauman added 13 points, eight rebounds and three steals.
Cheyenne Klockziem led the Raiders with 17 points, while Zoie Rengsdorf had 11 points. Jazmyn Goetlicher added 10 points for Nicollet.
Sleepy Eye (6-4) plays at Southwest Minnesota State in a tournament on Monday, Dec. 29, while Nicollet (6-4) plays at Cedar Mountain on Jan. 5.
Springfield 73, GFW 43
SPRINGFIELD — Springfield defeated Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop 73-43 in a Tomahawk Division girls basketball game on Monday.
Olivia Milbrath led the Tigers with 27 points and 10 rebounds, while Kendall Kruger had 13 points and eight rebounds. Jada Reese added 11 points and five rebounds, and Noelle Reese had 10 points with three 3-pointers.
No statistics were reported for GFW.
Springfield (5-3, 4-2) plays at Moutain Lake Area/Comfrey on Tuesday, Dec. 30, while GFW (2-6, 1-3) hosts Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s on Jan. 5.

Morgan Mathiowetz led the Knights with 27 points, six rebounds, five assists and five steals, while Olivia Schieffert had 20 points, eight rebounds and three assists.
Cedar Mountain was led by Kendra Lueck with 16 points, three rebounds and four steals, while Aubrey Steffl had 14 points, five rebounds, five assists and five steals.
St. Mary’s (9-0, 5-0) plays at Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop on Jan. 5, while Cedar Mountain (4-2, 4-1) plays in a tournament at Lakeview High School on Monday, Dec. 29.

Springfield 94, GFW 51
WINTHROP — Springfield rolled Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop 94-51 in a Tomahawk Division boys basketball game on Monday.
Brecken Heiling led the Tigers with 23 points, eight rebounds and four assists with seven steals, while Madden Lendt and Dylan Simonson each had 18 points.
Cole Jacobson led the Firebirds with 22 points, while Kaden Rieke added 12 points.
Springfield (4-2, 4-1) play Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton at Kasson-Mantorville on Saturday, Jan. 3, while GFW (3-3, 1-1) plays at Nicollet on Monday, Jan. 5.

MORGAN — Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s downed Cedar Mountain 69-57 in a Tomahawk Division boys basketball game on Monday.
Mike Balko led the Knights with 15 points and five rebounds, while Adam Steffensmeier had 14 points, seven assists and four rebounds. Cooper Walter had 12 points and five rebounds, and Brecken Hulke added 10 points.
Thomas Dahmes led the Cougars with 22 points.
St. Mary’s (4-3, 2-2) hosts Red Rock Central on Friday, Jan 2, while Cedar Mountain (1-5, 1-4) plays at New Ulm Cathedral on Jan. 6.

NUA places third at
Redwood River Riot
REDWOOD FALLS — New Ulm Area took third out of 35 teams at the Redwood River Riot this past weekend.
Regan Johnson placed second at 121, while Kane Johnson placed third at 139. Elijah Rieser placed fourth at 145, as did Emmerson Johnson at 285. Braxton Kiecker took fifth at 160, and Alex Portner placed sixth at 133. For the girls, Anna Pollard placed second at 124.
