SLEEPY EYE — Brown County 4‒H is proud to announce that two of its members, Calleigh Frederickson and Tyson Goold, have qualified to represent Minnesota at the 2026 4‒H Shooting Sports National Championships.

4‒H youth from across the country will compete in compound archery, recurve archery, air rifle, air pistol, .22 rifle, .22 pistol, shotgun, muzzleloading and hunting skills. This marks the first time in county history that two youth have earned this honor in the same year.

The 4-H Shooting Sports National Championships will be held in June in Grand Island, Nebraska, where participants will compete in a variety of disciplines. Frederickson will compete in shotgun events: trap, skeet, and sporting clays. Goold will represent Minnesota on the hunting skills team, demonstrating ethical hunting practices such as following a blood trail, taking an ethical shot, and identifying trees, skulls, and prints. Their participation reflects both the technical skill and responsibility that 4‒H Shooting Sports instills in young people.

Frederickson and Goold are dedicated athletes who train year‒round through school and 4‒H programs, competing locally, regionally, and even nationally. Through Shooting Sports and Wildlife, they have developed patience, adaptability, teamwork, and strong communication skills. They work closely with coaches to refine their techniques and are striving to become not only better shooters but also more well‒rounded sportsmen.
