Morris breaks MLC single-game 3-point record, Knights beat Carleton

NORTHFIELD — The 3-pointers came early and often for the MLC women’s basketball team as they defeated Carleton College handily, 72-51, on Friday. Last season MLC beat Carleton 63-57, and tonight the Knights picked up another win, tying their own MLC single-game record for made 3-point shots (14). The Knights previously hit that number of 14 against Crown in early January a season ago.

Mya Morris led the way for the Knights’ hot shooting and broke the MLC single-game record for made 3-pointers (8), surpassing her previous record of 7 from last year, which she was tied with Sarah Free and Rachel Oblinger.

Morris had a game-high 29 points, five rebounds, and currently leads the UMAC in points per game. Feidt continued her efficient scoring, going 7-of-9 (77.7 percent) from the field, finishing with 18 points, five boards, in addition to her six steals.

Wilhelmina Wenz finished with a game-high 12 rebounds, while sisters Ava Walz (9 rebounds, 5 assists) and Ella Walz (5 rebounds, 5 assists) also made big contributions on the court.

As a team, MLC shot 44.3 percent from the field.

MLC improves to 7-4 overall and will have one final game at home before Christmas Break on Wednesday at 7 p.m. against Lakeland University.
