SLEEPY EYE — Sleepy Eye downed Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther 68-59 in a nonconference girls basketball game on Thursday.

Taylor Berkner scored a career-high 32 points for the Indians and added six rebounds, four assists and three steals, while Destiny Dittbenner had 12 points, eight rebounds and five steals. Jace Schauman had 12 points, eight rebounds and four steals for Sleepy Eye.

Sleepy Eye (3-3) travels to Wabasso on Friday.

SLEEPY EYE — Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s defeated Mayer Lutheran 52-49 in a nonconference girls basketball game on Thursday.

Morgan Mathiowetz led the Knights with 20 points, seven steals and six rebounds, while Olivia Schieffert had 14 points, five rebounds, four assists and four steals. Natalie Fischer added 7 points.

St. Mary’s (7-0) hosts Springfield on Friday.

Nicollet 67, RCW 47

NICOLLET — Nicollet downed Renville County West 67-47 in a nonconference girls basketball game on Thursday.

Cheyenne Klockziem led the Raiders with 28 points, while Jazmyn Goettlicher had 23 points. Kamryn Truebenbach added 10 points for Nicollet.

Nicollet (4-3) hosts Cleveland on Friday.

MCW 64, MVL 51

SHERBURN — Martin County West topped Minnesota Valley Lutheran 64-51 in a nonconference boys basketball game on Thursday.

Violet Hammer led the Chargers with 14 points and three steals, while Ziva Zahrt had 12 points and six rebounds. Olivia Hammer added 9 points for the Chargers.

MVL (2-2) plays at New Ulm Cathedral on Friday.

WABASSO — Lac qui Parle Valley defeated Wabasso 54-51 in a nonconference girls basketball game on Thursday.

Elizabeth Morin led the Rabbits with 15 points, three steals and three rebounds, while Kayleigha Johnson had 9 points and three rebounds. Kenley Guetter had 6 points, 14 rebounds and five assists, and Sara Carlson had 7 points, eight rebounds and three assists.

Wabasso (1-4) hosts Sleepy Eye on Friday.

MADELIA — Madelia cruised by Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther 97-62 in a Valley Conference boys basketball game on Thursday.

Kaydon Firchau had his third 40-point game of the season, scoring 42 points with six steals, four rebounds and four assists for Madelia, while Dalton Tatro had 20 points, five rebounds and five steals. Caden McMullen had 12 points, five rebounds and three blocks, and Bryce Borkenhagen had 10 points and seven assists.

Madelia (4-0, 3-0) plays at Nicollet on Tuesday.

Nicollet 65, Loyola 64

MANKATO — Nicollet edged Mankato Loyola 65-64 in a Valley Conference boys basketball game on Thursday.

Henry Kennedy led the Raiders with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Keegan Hulke and Abe Madson each had 12 points. Carson Kettner added 11 points and nine rebounds.

Nicollet (4-0, 3-0) hosts Madelia on Tuesday.
