MORGAN — Aubrey Steffl surpassed Tyler Pendleton for the overall Cedar Mountain scoring record as she helped lead the Cougars to an 85-45 victory over Lester Prairie on Friday in a Tomahawk Division girls basketball game.
Steffl sits at 1,860 career points, passing Pendleton’s 1,856 for most in school history. On the night, Steffl scored 26 poitns with 11 rebounds and nine assists. Kendra Erickson led the Cougars in scoring with 27 points, along with seven rebounds and five assists, while Kendra Lueck had 14 points, five rebounds, four assists and four steals. Marlie Wildt added 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Cedar Mountain (1-1, 1-0) playst at Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop on Tuesday.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Madelia 77, Loyola 75
MANKATO — Madelia sophomore Kaydon Firchau achieved 1,000 career points as he led the Blackhawks over Mankato Loyola 77-75 in a Valley Division boys basketball game on Friday.
Firchau scored 27 points with eight rebounds and five steals, while Dalton Tatro had 18 points, eight rebounds and five steals. Tate Becker had 14 points and six rebounds, while Caden McMullen had 10 points, including the game-winner, and six rebounds.
Madelia (2-0, 2-0) hosts United South Central on Tuesday in nonconference action.
Nicollet 81, Cleveland 56
CLEVELAND — Nicollet cruised by Cleveland 81-56 in a Valley Division boys basketball game on Friday.
Carson Kettner led the Raiders with 31 points and six rebounds, while Keegan Hulke had 15 points and seven assists. Henry Oscarson added 11 points, while Henry Kennedy had 8 points, 10 rebounds and six assists.
Nicollet (2-0, 2-0) travels to Sherburn to take on Martin County West on Monday night in a Valley Division basketball game.
