Wilfahrt, Hubin, Erickson lead 2025 All-Journal Volleyball

FIRST TEAM

Shay Wilfahrt, Sr.,

OH/MB, Cathedral

A three-year starter and Team MVP for the Greyhounds, Wilfahrt set the school record for kills in a season with 469 this season and led the team in hitting efficiency, serve receive and defensive efficiency. Wilfahrt added 290 digs, 39 aces and a team-best 42 blocks in an All-Conference and All-State season. Wilfahrt finishes her career with 1,067 kills, second-most in school history, 834 digs, fifth most in school history, 104.5 blocks and 77 aces, all while playing just three years on varsity.

Lily Hubin, Sr.,

S/RH, BLHS

Hubin was the heart beat for the Mustangs offense over the past five seasons. A six-rotation player, Hubin recorded 323 kills, 495 set assists, 300 digs, 51 aces and 46 blocks and helped lead BLHS to the Section 2A Championship game. Hubin was selected as the Tomahawk-Valley Conference, Tomahawk Division Player of the Year for the second consecutive season. Hubin finishes her career with well over 1,000 set assists, kills and digs.

Kendra Erickson, Jr.,

S/OH, Cedar Mountain

Erickson was a do-it-all player for the Cougars this season, helping Cedar Mountain to second place in the conference. One of the setters in the Cougars’ 6-2 offense, Erickson put up 324 assists, but she also led the team with 375 kills and added 297 digs, putting up 12 triple-doubles and seven double-doubles. Erickson also led the team with 42 aces and had 20 total blocks. Erickson earned her second All-Conference selection this season and surpassed 1,000 career set assists, finishing the season with 1,228.

Morgan Mathiowetz, Jr., OH, St. Mary’s

Mathiowetz continued to improve on a strong season last year, leading the team with 428 kills and 334 digs. Mathiowetz also added 29 aces and 19 total blocks and was an All-Conference selection as she helped lead the Knights to the Section 2A semifinals. Mathiowetz currently holds the school record for career digs with 1,131 and is just 12 kills away from the school kills record with 1,054.

Josie Helget, Sr.,

S, St. Mary’s

Helget not only surpassed 2,000 career set assists this season, she also broke the school record for career set assists, recording 2,406. During this season, she racked up 820 set assists, 10.1 per set, along with a team-best 53 aces. Helget added 46 kills, 14 blocks and 203 digs in an All-Conference season and helped the Knights win 21 matches this year.

Reagyn Kleinschmidt, So.,

S/MB, Cedar Mountain

In her third season starting for the Cougars, Kleinschmidt led the team with 319 set assists while also collecting 290 kills. Kleinschmidt also led the team in total blocks with 59 while adding 195 digs and 29 aces. Earning her second All-Conference selection this season, she helped the Cougars to a 21-8 record.

SECOND TEAM

Sara Carlson, Sr.,

S, Wabasso

Carlson, a five-year varsity player, surpassed the Wabasso school record for career set assists this year, putting up 2,321. This season saw 860 set assists, 9.56 per set, helping her to her second All-Conference selection. Carlson added 30 aces, 36 blocks and 147 digs this year.

Jenna Bates, Jr.,

OH, MVL

Bates, a unanimous All-South Central Conference selection, was a six-rotation player for the Chargers this season. She recorded 274 kills, 227 digs, 45 aces and 19 blocks this season and broke the single-match record for aces with 11 this year. Bates finished this season with 572 career kills, fifth-most in school history.

Sam Price, Sr.,

OH, Sleepy Eye

A four-year starter for Sleepy Eye, Price turned in her best season yet, putting up 289 kills, 183 digs, 29 blocks and 22 aces, earning an All-Conference selection. Price led the team in kills nearly every match and finished third in the conference in kills. For her career, Price finishes with 903 kills, 496 digs, 57 aces and 108 blocks.

Audrey Johnson, Sr.,

L, Wabasso

Johnson earned her second All-State selection this season at libero, leading the Rabbits defense on the court. Johnson racked a career-best 389 digs in her fifth season starting, along with 39 aces and 31 set assists. Johnson also earned her third All-Conference selection and set the school record for career digs with 1,653.

Lauren Hubin, So.,

OH, BLHS

Hubin stepped up her game at outside hitter for the Mustangs, helping to take BLHS to a 27-3 overall record. Hubin recorded 267 kills, 353 digs, 21 aces and 21 blocks this season and was a threat to hit from even the back row. Hubin was a unanimous All-Conference player this year.

Kelsey Ulrich, Sr.,

L, BLHS

Ulrich captained the back row for the Mustangs, surpassing the 1,000-dig milestone this season with 417. Her 124 digs in conference led the Tomahawk Division and she was voted as an All-Conference player this year. BLHS head coach Aaron Hubin said Ulrich was the best libero he’s seen at BLHS in his 23 years of coaching.

THIRD TEAM

Aubrey Steffl, Jr.,

OH, Cedar Mountain

A high-IQ player on both defense and offense, Steffl put up 265 kills, 240 digs, 23 aces and 23 total blocks for the Cougars this year. Steffl used her athleticism and smarts to keep teams out of system with her hits and was an All-Conference selection for the second time in her four-year career. Steffl surpassed 1,000 career digs this year.

Brynn Hoffbeck, Sr.,

L, Cedar Mountain

Described as a phenomenal libero by Cougars head coach Beth Hill, Hoffbeck led the team with 417 digs and was the heart and soul of the Cougars this season. Hoffbeck added 23 aces and 42 set assists for Cedar Mountain and was an All-Conference Honorable Mention in her second year at libero. Hoffbeck was often the difference maker in close games for the Cougars, improving with each match.

Ava Krueger, Sr.,

OH, Cathedral

Krueger is a three-year starter for Cathedral and earned her first All-Conference selection this year after being an Honorable Mention last year. Krueger recorded 230 kills, 267 digs, 18 blocks and 51 aces this season. Krueger finishes her career with 470 kills, 594 digs, 101 aces and 51 blocks.

Kenley Guetter, Fr.,

OH, Wabasso

Guetter stepped up into her six-rotation role well this season, leading the Rabbits with 233 kills, along with 71 blocks, 227 digs and 31 aces. Guetter was an All-Conference Honorable Mention as a freshman.

Camryn Irlbeck, Sr.,

MH, Wabasso

Irlbeck was a strong middle blocker for Wabasso, totaling 87 blocks this year, nearly one per set. Irlbeck added 187 kills, 49 digs and 30 aces this year in an All-Conference season. For her career, Irlbeck finished with 246 blocks, 548 kills, 142 digs and 38 aces.

Kendall Krueger, So.,

OH, Springfield

Krueger led the Tigers in both kills (199) and digs (275) this season and ranked third in the conference in digs. Krueger added 10 blocks and 28 aces with a 92% serve percentage in an All-Conference Honorable Mention season.
