Eagles cross-country sees improvements at BSC Championships
LUVERNE — The New Ulm Eagles lone senior, Megan Gauert, set a season-best time while the boys team set multiple personal records Tuesday at the Big South Conference Cross-Country Championships in Luverne.
Gauert ran a season-best time of 23:13.87, finishing 37th in the girls large schools division. St. Peter won the large school girls race with a 42, just ahead of Marshall (43). Keira Friedrich led St. Peter by taking first overall with an 18:07.39.
The boys large school race was won by Belle Plaine (40), while Marshall took second (47). New Ulm took eighth (260).
The young New Ulm boys were led in the large schools division by sophomore Jack Oswald (58th, 23:15.68, PR) and freshman Benjamin Oswald (59th, 24:49.16, PR). New Ulm also saw seventh-grader Lincoln Kruz take 60th (27:26.77, PR), while eighth-grader Alex Hillman took 61st (28:53.83), eighth-grader Elijah Lovig took 62nd (31:43.73) and seventh-grader Carew Hanson took 63rd (31:49.39, PR).
Belle Plaine’s Isaac Bemmels won boys race with a time of 16:03.88.
