WELLS — Minnesota Valley Lutheran deleted Mankato Loyola 25-19, 25-21, United South Central 25-16, 25-16 and Maple River 21-25, 25-20 but fell to Blue Earth Area 25-16, 19-25, New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva 25-12, 25-11 and Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther 25-19, 25-18 in a volleyball tournament on Saturday.

Jenna Bates had 29 kills, 22 digs, four blocks and an ace in the tournament, while Olivia Hammer had 29 kills, nine digs and 10 aces. Graysie Black had 47 set assists, 13 digs and four aces, and Nora Krueger had 30 set assists, nine digs and six aces. Marley Schauer had nine kills, six digs and two aces.

MVL (10-9) hosts Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial on Tuesday.

ST. JAMES — New Ulm Cathedral defeated Madelia 2-1 but fell to Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart 2-1, Pipestone 2-1 and Le Sueur-Henderson 2-1 in a volleyball tournament at St. James on Saturday.

Shay Wilfhart had 21 kills, 18 digs and four blocks in the tourney, while Ava Krueger had 24 kills, 25 digs and 10 aces. Abbey Hillesheim had 22 set assists, and Margo Finstad had 29 set assists, 18 digs, eight kills and four aces.

Cathedral (7-9) hosts Springfield on Tuesday.

New Ulm places sixth at Austin tourney

AUSTIN — New Ulm defeated Waseca 26-24, 25-16 but fell to Austin 23-25, 25-12m 15-11, West Salem 25-14, 25-22 and Worthington 25-22, 25-18 in a tournament at Austin on Saturday.

Brooklyn Lewis had nine kills and 14 digs against Austin, seven digs against West Salem, four digs against Waseca and three kills and 13 digs against Worthington.

Calli Koop had six kills and two aces against Austin, four kills and two aces against West Salem, two aces, three digs and two blocks against Waseca and 10 digs against Worthington.

Lauren Schmiesing had two blocks against Austin, two more against West Salem, five kills, two aces and three blocks against Waseca and two kills and a block against Worthington. Lily Poehler had 20 set assists and 10 digs against Austin, eight set assists and nine digs against West Salem, 17 set assists and two aces against Waseca and two kills, seven set assists and 13 digs against Worthington.

New Ulm (6-14) plays at Waseca on Tuesday.

Wabasso goes 2-3 at Burnsville Showcase

BURNSVILLE — Wabasso defeated Ely 25-20, 25-18 and Cleveland 25-18, 25-18 but fell to Minneota 30-32, 25-21, 25-13, Ada Borup 21-25, 25-15, 15-11 and Spring Grove 25-19, 25-11 in a showcase at Burnsville on Saturday.

Carly Fenger had 32 kills and seven blocks in the tournament, while Kenely Guetter had 29 kills and 33 digs. Camryn Irlbeck had 25 kills and seven blocks, and Audrey Johnson had 49 digs and six aces. Sara Carlson had 104 set assists, 24 digs and five aces, and Britta Brand ahd 24 digs and five aces.

Wabasso (10-8) plays at Cedar Mountain on Tuesday.

Madelia goes 1-3 in

St. James

ST. JAMES — Madelia defeated Edgerton 25-14, 23-25 but fell to St. James 25-17, 25-7, Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton 25-18, 25-16 and New Ulm Cathedral 24-26, 25-18 in a tournament at St. James on Saturday.

Makayla Sorenson had 15 kills, 29 digs and five aces during the tournament, while Lauryn Grev had 19 kills, 19 digs and three aces with two blocks. Grace Tatro had 11 kills, 33 digs, four blocks and three aces, and Alicia Lugo had 25 set assists, 10 digs and three aces. Adrianne Missling had 20 set assists, seven digs and nine aces, and Emmy Johnson had 18 digs and an ace.
