MLC takes home multiple UMAC POTW awards

ST. PAUL — Martin Luther College took home multiple Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors this past week.
Brady Turriff was awarded the UMAC Football Offensive Player of the Week award (September 8-September 14) for his performance against Luther College.
Turriff led MLC to a dominant 34-0 win over the Norse on Saturday in the Knights’ home opener. The sophomore quarterback went 24-for-32, 242 yards, and 2 touchdowns.
MLC will play UW-Eau Claire on the road in their next game at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 20.
Andrew Esmay was voted the UMAC Football Defensive Player of the Week (September 8-September 14) for his performance in MLC’s 34-0 win over Luther College in the home opener on Saturday.
Esmay picked up where he left off last season and made a big impact off the edge, recording six tackles, 2.5 sacks, and a forced fumble.
MLC plays at UW-Eau Claire for week three of the season. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 20.
Priscilla Boehm was awarded the UMAC Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week (September 8- September 14).
In MLC’s lone game this past week, Boehm led the Knights’ comeback and scored a penalty kick goal and later had the assist on the tying goal in the final 15 minutes of their 2-2 tie with Waldorf.
Boehm and the Knights will play again on Wednesday, September 17, at 7 p.m. in their first UMAC game of the season at Crown College.
