Area roundup: Guetter, Cougars take down Greyhounds

Cedar Mountain 36, Cathedral 6
MORGAN — Jackson Guetter rushed for 241 yards and added 100 yards receiving for Cedar Mountain on Friday as the Cougars downed New Ulm Cathedral 36-6 in a Nine-Man South District, West Subdistrict football game.
Guetter had 24 carries for 241 yards and four touchdowns while catching five passes for 100 yards. Guetter also led the Cougars defense with 13 tackles.
Cedar Mountain quarterback Carson Schiller completed 8 of 14 passes for 124 yards while rushing for a touchdown, while Stan Heiling had 12 carries for 53 yards and Thomas Dahmes had three catches for 24 yards. Heiling added eight tackles and a sack on defense.
Cathedral was led by Alex Portner, who had 14 carries for 68 yards, while Eli Anderson had eight carries for 37 yards and Lane Ruch had seven carries for 34 yards. Even Blekestad scored the lone TD for Cathedral on a 90-yard kickoff return. For the Cathedral defense, Ike Kirschstein led with 14 tackles, while Camden Berg had 11 tackles, Ruch had 10 tackles and Blekestad had nine tackles.
The Cougars had 450 yards of total offense to Cathedral’s 153.
Cathedral (1-2) hosts Wabasso for Homecoming at 7 p.m. Friday, while Cedar Mountain (1-2) is at Nicollet for a 4 p.m. game Friday.
Springfield 68, TMB 18
TRACY — Springfield rolled to a 3-0 start on the season with a 68-18 drubbing of Tracy-Milroy-Balaton on Friday in a Mid-South District, Purple Subdistrict football game.
The Tigers got 225 yards passing and four TD passes from quarterback Parker Kuehn, while Paytin Johnson rushed for 144 yards and two touchdowns, one a 66-yard run. Colten Snell added 76 yards rushing and two TD runs for the Tigers, while Isaac Fredin had nine receptions for 76 yards and two scores and Kadyn Anderson had a 48-yard TD reception. Madden Lendt also had a 20-yard TD reception and a 57-yard punt return for a touchdown for Springfield, while Conner Schmitt scored on 22-yard TD run in the closing minute.
For the Springfield defense, Eli Trevino had 10 tackles and a sack, while Adiel Trevino and Leo Hovland also added a sack and Aiden Moriarty recovered a fumble. Tayte Hall and Lendt also had an interception.
Springfield (3-0) hosts Dawson-Boyd on Friday.
Wabasso 64, GHEC/T 12
WABASSO — Wabasso cruised by Granada-Huntley-East Chain 64-12 in a Nine-Man South District, West Subdistrict football game.
Drew Kemp headed the attack for Wabasso, throwing for 249 yards and four touchdowns. Two of those scores went to Nolan Leopold for 90 yards receiving, and he added 76 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Joe Rohlik had 10 rushes for 59 yards and added a catch for 64 yards and a touchdown, and Jack Burns had two catches for 43 yards and a touchdown, along with an 85-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.
Zach Skoblich had seven carries for 67 yards and a score, and Paxton Huhnerkoch had 37 yards rushing and a TD.
Wabasso (3-0, 3-0) travels to play New Ulm Cathedral on Friday.
MCC 35, SEU 0
SLAYTON — Sleepy Eye United was shut out by Murray County Central 35-0 on Friday in a Mid-South District, Purple Subdistrict football game.
SEU quarterback Brayden Heiderscheidt completed 9 of 20 passes for 119 yards and an interception, while Carson Uecker caught five passes for 38 yards, Tyler Mathiowetz had two catches for 29 yards, Merrick Mathiowetz had a 32-yard grab and Jacob Fulmer had an 11-yard reception. Adam Braulick had two carries for 30 yards to lead SEU on the ground.
MCC controlled the game on the ground with 376 yards rushing to SEU’s 21 yards and finished with 396 total yards of offense to SEU’s 140.
SEU (1-2) is at Tracy-Milroy-Balaton on Friday.
Late Thursday
Nicollet 50, BLHS 38
NICOLLET — Nicollet topped Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart 50-38 in a Nine-Man South District, West Subdistrict football game on Thursday night.
Quarterback Henry Oscarson had three TD passes, two rushing TDs, one kick return for a TD and two 2-point conversions to lead the Raiders in the win, while AJ Kramer had two TD receptions and Henry Kennedy had one TD catch. Talan Osborne added a rushing TD and a 2-point conversion for Nicollet, while Colten Rengstorf had a 2-point conversion.
