GIBBON — The New Ulm High School’s bowling season began this past Saturday at Code 3 Lanes in Gibbon.

The New Ulm varsity team lost the opening match against Hutchinson and went on to win Match 2 against Sibley East, giving the Eagles a 1-1 start to the season.

New Ulm Black (JV) started out their season 3-1 and New Ulm Silver (JV) started their season 0-3. A notable opening performance came fromby varsity bowler Jackson Sharits, who filled 95% for the day.

The South West Conference will meet again this coming Saturday at Hutch Bowl in Hutchinson.

Youth Bowling League at Concordia Lanes begins on Tuesday. Those interested can call 507-359-2923 or stop in on the first day to sign up for the season.

Youth bowling consists of three sessions running throughout September through May. The high school team will continue to bowl matches through the end of October, with goals of making it to postseason competition.
