MEN’S SOCCER

UW-Stout 2, MLC 0

Menomonie, Wic. – The MLC men’s soccer team gave UW-Stout a competitive game on Tuesday evening on the road, challenging the Blue Devils throughout the 90 minutes of game time.

However, UW-Stout came out on top with the 2-0 nonconference victory over the Knights.

The pair of UW-Stout goals came early on and consecutively as they score both of them within a minute of each other around the 15th and 16th minute of the first period. From there, it looked like the Blue Devils would tack on a few more goals to put the contest out of reach, but MLC buckled down defensively and held UW-Stout scoreless from that point on.

The Blue Devils put up 24 shots, but only seven of them came in the second period.

The lone shot on goal for MLC came via freshman Brandon Bode around the 40th minute. Sophomore Nick Russ recorded nine saves, playing the entire game at the goalkeeper position.

MLC (0-2) will play in another non conference road game this weekend, when they travel to Watertown, WI, for a 3 p.m. game on Saturday, September 6.
