PREP FOOTBALL

GFW 44, LQPV 6

WINTHROP — Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop rolled Lac qui Parle Valley 44-6 in a nondistrict football game on Thursday.

Matthew Lee had 163 yards rushing and two touchdowns, while Owen Swenson had 85 yards rushing and two touchdowns while adding three completions for 61 yards and a score through the air. Garrett Stegeman caught all three passes. Defensively, Jose Oscar Farias Banda had seven tackles.

GFW (1-0) travels to St. James Area on Sept. 5.

SEU 22, BOLD 14

SLEEPY EYE — Sleepy Eye United knocked off BOLD 22-14 in a Mid-South District, Purple Subdistrict football game on Thursday.

Brayden Heiderscheidt was 6 for 15 with 199 yards, a touchdown and an interception passing and added a reception for 35 yards and a touchdown. Carson Uecker had four receptions for 95 yards and a touchdown, while Jacob Fulmer had seven rushes for 40 yards and Gavin Fischer and Davin Suess each had a rushing touchdown.

SEU (1-0) hosts Russell-Tyler-Ruthton on Sept. 5.

PREP VOLLEYBALL

Cedar Mountain 3, Madelia 0

MORGAN — Cedar Mountain swept Madelia 25-13, 25-22, 25-16 in a Tomahawk-Valley Conference crossover volleyball match on Thursday.

Kendra Erickson led the Cougars with 12 kills, 10 set assists and three aces, while Aubrey Steffl had 10 kills nine digs and three aces. Reagyn Kleinschmidt had nine kills and 10 set assists, while Brynn Hoffbeck had 10 digs and three aces. Kendal Atkins added seven digs and four aces.

Lauryn Grev led the Blackhawks with six kills and seven digs, while Grace Tatro had four kills and three digs. Alicia Lugo had eight digs and six set assists, while Adrianne Missling had eight digs and five set assists. Emmy Johnson added 13 digs and Carissa Sorenson had three aces and two blocks.

Cedar Mountain (2-0) plays at Nicollet on Tuesday, while Madelia (0-2) hosts United South Central on Tuesday.

Lester Prairie 3, Nicollet 2

Lester Prairie defeated Nicollet 25-11, 25-23, 22-25,22-25, 15-10 in a Tomahawk-Valley Conference crossover volleyball match on Thursday.

Maddison Kettner led the Raiders with 11 kills, while Kamryn Truebenbach and Cheyenne Klockziem each had six kills, with Truebenbach adding 10 digs. Chloe Kachelmeier had 13 digs, and Lydia Martins had 14 set assists.

Nicollet (0-1) hosts Cedar Mountain on Tuesday.

GIRLS TENNIS

Waseca 7, New Ulm 0

WASECA — Waseca swept New Ulm 7-0 in a Big South Conference girls tennis meet on Thursday.

Carmen Schotzko battled her opponent Ava Miller to the third set at No. 2 singles, but fell 6-2, 3-6, 10-4.

New Ulm hosts Worthington on Tuesday.
