MANKATO — The Springfield/Cedar Mountain girls cross-country team started the season with a second-place finish at a Mankato Loyola cross-country invite on Friday.

The Springfield/CM boys took fifth at the invite.

The Springfield/CM girls were led by Katie Thram, who finished fifth in the girls race with a time of 21:55.3, while Lydia Dauer took eighth with a time of 22:28.9. Sylvia Hovland had a top 20 finish for the Springfield/CM girls also, finishing in 24:34.4.

The Springfield/CM boys were led by Dylan Dewitt, who took eighth with a time of 18:52.1. Bryan Buerkle finished 12th with a time of 19:54.7.
