Eagles girls tennis team earns two wins against Giants

NEW ULM — The New Ulm Eagles girls tennis team fell to the Le Sueur-Henderson Giants 5-2 on Saturday in a home meet, with two singles players earning wins for the Eagles.
At No. 2 singles, New Ulm’s Natalie Fischer earned a hard-fought 4-6, 7-6 (4), 10-5 win over Addison Fahey. New Ulm’s No. 3 singles player Lillian Kral defeated Libby Genelin in another three-set battle, winning 6-7 (1), 6-4, 10-3.
At No. 1 singles LSH’s Sallie Nesbit defeated Carmen Schotzko 6-3, 6-1, while the Giants finished the singles split with a win by Maura Krause at No. 4 singles as she defeated Avah Kruse 6-2, 6-0.
The Giants swept doubles action. At No. 1 doubles, Carlin Straub and Teagan Kraham defeated Kaylee Evans and Everly Batt 6-1, 7-5, while Ava Becker and Liandra Straub defeated Maggie Joyce and Edith Albrecht 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles. At No. 3 doubles, Alice Breaker and Sophie Tews defeated Chloe Kelley and Carolin Wunderlin 6-1, 6-1.

BLUE EARTH — Blue Earth Area swept New Ulm 7-0 in a girls tennis meet on Monday.
At No. 1 singles, Grace Hnaons defeated Natalie Fischer 6-0, 6-3, while Addi Prescher defeated Carmen Schotzko 7-5, 6-2 at No. 2 singles. At No. 3 singles, Abbey Lorenz defeated Lilly Kral 6-2, 6-4, while Gail Greff defeated Avah Kruse 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4 singles.
At No. 1 doubles, Carol Schrader and Grace Schavey defeated Kaylee Evans and Everly Batt 6-1, 4-6, 6-1, while Eric Prescher and Brooklyn Rosenau defeated Lydia Osborne and Maggie Joyce 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles. At No. 3 doubles, Mckinley Hanson and Katelyn Storebeck defeated Annika Wiffels and Brielle Evans 6-0, 6-1.
