Brewers power past Expos

NEW ULM — The New Ulm Brewers downed the Eagle Lake Expos 9-2 on Friday night in a non-league amateur baseball game at Mueller Park.

The Brewers trailed just 1-0 in the third before tying it in the fifth with a run and taking the lead in the sixth with a run. They then broke things open late in the seventh for six runs to take control.

Sam Keckeisen led the New Ulm bats by going 2 for 3 with a walk, while Tate Becker went 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI, JT Hoffmann was 1 for 4 with two RBIs and Wade French added a double.

French got the win on the mound for New Ulm in four innings of relief, allowing two hits and three walks for one earned run while striking out four. Becker got the start and allowed one hit and eight walks for one unearned run while striking out nine in four innings.

Cole Ranweiler pitched the ninth for New Ulm and allowed one hit while striking out two.

Liam Peterson led the Eagle Lake bats, going 2 for 4 with a triple. Travis Noren took the pitching loss for the Expos in two innings of relief, allowing six hits and two walks for seven runs, four earned, while striking out three.
