TEL roundup: Springfield finishes TEL season with win

Springfield 11, Sleepy Eye 0 (7 innings)

SPRINGFIELD — Springfield rolled Sleepy Eye 11-0 in seven innings in an Tomahawk East League amateur baseball game Sunday.

Kade Nachreiner earned the win for Springfield, striking out eight while allowing no runs on two hits in six innings. At the plate, Tori Helget was 4 for 4 with two RBIs and a run scored, while Jordan Milbrath was 2 for 3 with two RBIs and a run scored. Nachreiner was 2 for 3 with three runs scored, while Tyler Hach and Ryan Sturm each had a hit, two RBIs and a run scored. Ashtin Johnson had a hit, an RBI and a run scored.

Nick Mielke took the loss for Sleepy Eye, striking out one and allowing 11 runs on 12 hits. At the plate, Nick Mielke and Matt Mielke picked up the only two hits for the Indians.

Springfield finishes the TEL season with a 11-5 record, third in the league, while Sleepy Eye finishes 6-10, seventh in the TEL.

Essig 8, Lamberton 5

LAMBERTON — The Essig Bluejays defeated the Lamberton Long Sox 8-5 in an exhibition amateur baseball game Sunday.

Winsten Nienhaus earned the win for Essig in 2 1/3 innings, striking out two and allowing two runs, one earned, on four hits. Sam Hansen got the save, striking out two while allowing three runs, two earned, on five hits in 3 2/3 innings. At the plate, Nienhaus was 2 for 3 with four RBIs and three runs scored, while Joshua Vander Plas was 2 for 4 with two RBIs. Eric Scheibel was 3 for 5 with a run scored.

Donald Strand took the loss for Lamberton, striking out seven while allowing four runs on three hits and six walks in 2 2/3 innings. At the plate, Seth Guetter was 2 for 4 with a run scored, whiel Hudsen Jenniges was 2 for 5 with an RBI and a run scored. Will Carlson was 2 for 5 with an RBI, while Kyle Krzmarzick had two hits. Josh Altermatt, Travis Willhite and Isaac Jenniges each had a hit, an RBI and a run scored.

Essig finishes the regular season with a 3-13 TEL record, placing 11th, while Lamberton finishes fourth in the TEL at 10-6.

Hanska 12, Fairfax 1

HANSKA — The Hanska Lakers started their Sunday with a 12-1 win over the Fairfax Cardinals in a Tomahawk East League amateur baseball game.

Hanska was led by Kevin Larson, who was 3 for 4 with two RBIs, while Tanner Olson was 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs. Aaron Portner got the win for Hanska in seven innings of work, allowing six hits and two walks for one earned run while striking out six.

Tom Lokensgard led the Fairfax bats with a double. Ethan Louwagie took the loss in 3 2/3 innings, allowing seven hits and a walk for six runs, five earned, while striking out two.

Fairfax finished the TEL season 2-14, while Hanska moved to 9-6 with the win.

Gibbon 9, Hanska 5

GIBBON — The Gibbon Reds defeated the Hanska Lakers 9-5 in a Tomahawk East League amateur baseball game Sunday.

Nolan Huiras earned the win for Gibbon, striking out two and allowing one run on three hits in three innings. Dominic Rose pitched six innings, striking out eight and allowing four runs, one earned, on six hits. At the plate, Rose was 3 for 3 with a home run and three RBIs, while Josh Wasmund was 2 for 4 with a home run, five RBIs and three runs scored. Huiras had a hit, an RBI and two runs scored.

Ethan Mixdorf took the loss for Hanksa, allowing five runs on five hits in two innings. At the plate, Chris Knowles was 3 for 5 with an RBI and a run scored, while Brady Mosenden was 2 for 4 with a home run, two RBIs and a run scored. Tanner Olosn added a home run, two RBIs and a run scored.

Gibbon finishes the regular season with a 7-9 TEL record, while Hanska was 9-7 in league play.

Delano 5, New Ulm 0

DELANO — Delano downed New Ulm 5-0 in an exhibition amateur baseball game on Sunday.

Mitch Bockenstedt took the loss for New Ulm, striking out two and allowing five runs on eight hits in five innings. At the plate, Josh Seidl, Luke Suess and Tanner Backer each picked up hits.

New Ulm plays another exhibition game against Courtland in New Ulm.
