TEL roundup: Cubs move to 13-0 in TEL
Courtland 6, St. James 3
ST. JAMES — The Courtland Cubs stayed unbeaten in Tomahawk East League play Wednesday night with a 6-3 win over the St. James Athletics in a TEL amateur baseball game.
Courtland (13-0, TEL) had 11 hits in the win, led by Josh Giefer, who was 2 for 2 with two RBIs. Carter Lang was 2 for 3 with an RBI also for the Cubs, while Dave Hatle was 2 for 4 with an RBI, Nik Johnson was 2 for 5 and Nolan Drill was 2 for 5 with a double.
Giefer also got the win for Courtland in five innings of work, allowing no hits and two walks for no runs while striking out six.
Bransen Petersen took the loss for St. James (5-7 TEL) in eight innings of work, allowing 11 hits and a walk for six runs, three earned, while striking out two.
Matt Baumgartner was 2 for 4 to lead St. James at the plate, while Petersen was 1 for 4 with a double and two RBIs.
Springfield 13, Fairfax 3
FAIRFAX — The Springfield Tigers earned a 13-3 win over the Fairfax Cardinals on Wednesday night in a Tomahawk East League amateur baseball game.
The game ended after eight innings due to the 10-run rule lead, which Springfield triggered with a run in the top of the eighth to make it 13-3.
Jordan Milbrath got the mound win in six innings for Springfield (7-4, TEL), allowing seven hits and three walk for three unearned runs while striking out nine. Aiden Moriarty pitched two innings in relief and allowed two hits and a walk for no runs while fanning four.
Leading the Tigers at the plate was Tyler Hach, who was 3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs, while Ryan Sturm was 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs. Noah Neperman added a double and an RBI for Springfield also, while Decker Scheffler had a hit and two RBIs.
Tom Lokensgard took the loss in five innings for the Cardinals (1-12, TEL), allowing eight hits and a walk for eight runs, seven earned.
Luke Bastian led Fairfax at the plate, going 2 for 3 with two RBIs, while Scott Palmer was 2 for 4.

LEAVENWORTH — The Leavenworth Orioles rolled to an 11-1 win over the Sleepy Eye Indians on Wednesday night in a Tomahawk East League amateur baseball game.
The game ended in eight innings due to the 10-run lead rule, which Leavenworth triggered in the bottom of the eighth on a walk-off RBI single by Brandon Tauer.
Caden Evers was was 4 for 5 with two RBIs to lead the Orioles (9-3, TEL) at the plate, while Jaden Mickelson was 3 for 5 with two RBIs and Jackson Huiras was 2 for 5 with a double and two RBIs. Jevan Richert added a double and an RBI also for the Orioles.
Mark Anderson got the pitching win in seven innings, allowing just three hits and four walks for one run while striking out 15.
Matt Mielke was 1 for 1 with a double and three walks to lead Sleepy Eye (6-6, TEL) at the plate. Luke Mielke took the loss in six innings, allowing eight hits and two walks for four runs, two earned, while striking out two.
