Courtland routs Sleepy Eye in TEL baseball
SLEEPY EYE — The Courtland Cubs rolled the Sleepy Eye Indians 10-0 in eight innings in a Tomahawk East League amateur baseball game on Friday.
Nolan Drill earned the win for Courtland, striking out four while allowing three hits in five innings. Teddy Giefer pitched three hitless innings, striking out seven. At the plate for the Cubs, Maddox Mortenson was 2 for 5 with a run scored, while Cade Bushard was 2 for 4 with two runs scored and Teagan Kamm was 2 for 4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Evan Wiltscheck had a hit and three RBIs, while Nolan Drill and Chase Meyer had a hit and two RBIs each.
Luke Mielke took the loss for Sleepy Eye, striking out six and allowing 10 runs, six earned, on 10 hits in 7 1/3 innings. At the plate, Kaleb Butenhoff, Sam Tessmer and Nick Mielke each had a hit.
Courtland’s big inning came in the fourth when the Cubs plated six runs, led by Nolan Drill’s two-run double.
The Cubs play at St. James at 1 p.m. Sunday, while the Indians play at New Ulm at 6 p.m. on Sunday on Military Appreciate Day.
