New Ulm trap team has strong performance in Alexandria

ALEXANDRIA — The New Ulm Eagles trap team competed in the Minnesota Trap Shooting Championships (MTSC) on June 17 at the Alexandria Shooting Park, finishing 10th overall in Class 9A.

The varsity shooters ranked ninth, while JV took seventh and novice took 11th.

In the JV varsity female competition, New Ulm saw Ava Nachreiner take third as she hit 85 of her 100 targets. The Eagles also had five shooters earn patches for shooting 25 straight, those shooters being Charlie Arndt, Ben Furth, Tate Isaacson, Braxton Kiecker and Kallan Kolden.

Tate Isaacson led the top shooters on the day for New Ulm, finishing by hitting 95 of 100 targets, while Braxton Kiecker hit on 94 of 100 targets. Hunter Lewandowski was 93 for 100 also for New Ulm, while Tucker Clemon, Jace Hinderman, Brett Hutchens and Benjamin Furth each hit 92 of 100 targets.

Trayton Lage and Ian Lee also had strong showings for New Ulm, hitting 90 of 100 targets each, while Dylan Armstrong and Addysen Wieland hit 89 of 100 targets each.

The state tournament, which concluded this past Friday in Prior Lake, hosted the top 40 teams from the MTSC. New Ulm finished four birds short of making the top 40 and competing at the state tournament. The individual shooters at state qualified for state based on their averages throughout the entire season.

The Minnesota Skeet Shooting Championships will take place next in Alexandria on Thursday.
