Tomahawk All-Conference baseball team announced

NEW ULM — The Tomahawk Division announced its All-Conference Baseball Team on Monday.

Division champions New Ulm Cathedral had six players mentioned, including the Conference Player of the Year in Jake Finstad. Also from Cathedral were Colin Anderson, Caleb Forstner, Elliot Schabert and Joey Schugel, with Anderson and Forstner being unanimous selections. Elijah Rieser was also an Honorable Mention for the Greyhounds.

Springfield had six total selections, with Jackson Ludewig, Noah Neperman and Madden Lendt being unanimous selections and Kade Nachreiner, Adiel Trevino and Brayden Strum selected as Honorable Mentions. Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s saw Talan Helget and Merrick Mathiowetz selected unanimously, with Kessler Severson also making the team and Tyler Mathiowetz being an Honorable Mention. Sleepy Eye’s Cody Schultz and Carson Uecker were unanimous selections, with Kayden Klein and Landon Wendinger being Honorable Mention, and Wabasso’s Jayden Remiger and Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop’s Layton Uecker Hamre were also unanimous selections. GFW’s Owen Swenson was an Honorable Mention.

Several Tomahawk Division players were also honored with Class A All-State Team selections. Finstad and Anderson were selected from Cathedral, Helget represented St. Mary’s, Nachreiner and Neperman were selected from Springfield, and Schultz was chosen from Sleepy Eye.

The coach of the year was Cathedral’s Alan Woitas after leading the Greyhounds to a state championship appearance and a 23-3 record.
