NEW ULM — Going into the bottom of the fourth inning, New Ulm Junior Legion Gold trailed Sleepy Eye 6-0 and had just one hit off of Sleepy Eye starter Eric Lozano.

But New Ulm came out in the bottom of the fourth with five runs on six hits and then added three more in the bottom of the fifth for an 8-6 comeback win.

Candon Briggs got the win in relief of starter Mitchell Hopp. Briggs allowed no runs on one hit.

Ryan Rathmann, Hunter Larson, Mitchell Hopp and Landon Kapolczynski each had two hits.

Kapolczynski drove in three runs.

Chase Zufall took the loss for Sleepy Eye in relief.

Jack Windschitl had two RBIs for Sleepy Eye.

New Ulm plated those five runs in the fourth on consecutive singles from Dirk Haynes, Collin Forstner, Rathmann, Hopp and Kapolczynski to cut the lead to 6-5.

In the fifth, it was singles again from Rathmann, Larson and Kapolczynski and an error that propelled New Ulm to an 8-6 lead and eventual win.
