Tigers’ doubles spell trouble for Long Sox in TEL action

SPRINGFIELD — The Springfield Tigers got three runs in the fifth inning to go in front of the Lamberton Long Sox and added two more insurance runs after that to earn a 6-2 win in a Tomahawk East League amateur baseball game.

Kade Nachreiner led the Tigers’ bats by going 2 for 3 with two doubles and three runs scored, while Tyler Hach was 2 for 5 with an RBI.

Neil Eichten led Lamberton at the plate, going 2 for 4 with an RBI.

Justin Haugo pitched five innings to earn the win, allowing four hits and two walks for two earned runs while striking out four. Tori Helget pitched the final four innings and got the save, allowing just one hit and one walk for no runs while fanning two.

Quintyn Vold took the loss for the Long Sox in five innings, allowing five hits and four walks for four earned runs while striking out eight. Hudsen Jenniges pitched the final three innings in relief and allowed just one hit and one walks for no runs while striking out two.

Lamberton took a 2-1 lead in the top of the fifth after Austin Imker scored on an error and Eichten had an RBI single, but the Tigers promptly took the lead back in the bottom of the inning. Jordan Milbrath tied the game up in that bottom of the fifth with an RBI double, while Hach followed with an RBI single and Ryan Sturm made it 4-2 with an RBI double.

Jacob Poehler picked up an RBI in the seventh to make it a 5-2 game, while Milbrath had a sac fly in the eighth for the final run of the game.

Springfield (4-2, TEL) is at Hanska for a 5 p.m. TEL game Sunday, while Lamberton (3-2, TEL) hosts Jackson in non-league action on Tuesday night.
