ARLINGTON – Extra money was on the line Saturday at Arlington Raceway as Bode Collision & Glass and K&R Towing gave an extra $100 to the winners in victory lane for the night.
The Jack Pines Resort IMCA Hobby feature went flag to flag with two different leaders, the first was Jonathan Schroeder from his pole position start. By Lap 4, Cory Probst was closing the gap and three laps later the two were racing side by side until Probst came out ahead. Schroeder held on for second ahead of Chad Volk.
Gary Schumacher looked as though he was going to pull off another victory in the IMCA Sport Compact feature but the 14 of Justin Schelitzhe was knocking on his back bumper throughout the race. He made a last lap pass to get by Schumacher and won the race again. Schumacher took second and Justin Dose finished in third.
The first lap of the Olson Plowing and Lawn Care feature saw a mangled mess in Turn 4 when Craig Groebner got crossed up and collected both Danield Eckblad and then Scott Porter plowed into the two cars ending the night for all three cars. When the race restarted, it was led by Karl Hewitt for the duration with Garett Uecker following him to the finish line. Newcomer Jesse Anderson avoided the early carnage and ended up in third place after starting 10th.
Bryan Spaude had his Arlington State Bank IMCA Northern Sport Modified dialed in as he led the first 10 laps of the race. A yellow came out on Lap 8 when the 1j of Joey Reimers hit the backend of Matt Looft’s a which spun him around. Reimer’s took the tail of the pack and the race resumed but two laps later Ben Enter hit the front wall and pulled off the track. Both incidents helped Looft as the cars restarted, and with five laps to go Looft got around Spaude to take the lead. The following lap Eric Larson also passed Spaude and had his sights on Looft but Looft won the race with Larson taking second. Ben Reierson made a last lap pass getting around Spaude to gain third place.
A first lap crash in Turn 2 in the Rice Companies IMCA Sprint feature also took out three cars as the 20g of Owen Graf spun and wheel hopped cousin Hannah Graf, she got collected as well as Rob Rawson and all three out of the race. As the race restarted, Brett Allen took the lead, but by Lap 4 Trevor Serbus took the helm and never looked back as he went on to win with Brett taking second. The cars of Justin Allen and Andrew Allen were fun to watch as the two cars raced each other the entire distance trading spot lap by lap. On the last lap Justin got around Andrew to pull off the fourth place just inches ahead of Andrew.
A new face in victory lane had the crowd roaring as the 27 of Jed Trebelhorn and AJ Zimmerman started on the front row and raced side by side for the first five laps until Tim Pessek had his nose in the mix. A yellow came out when Mark Zimmerman spun in Turn 4 and left the track. On the restart Trebelhorn had the point and took off with Pessek Zimmerman, and Josh Larson all battling for the top spot. On the 10th lap, Randy Melvin had troubles, bringing out another yellow flag and exiting the track. Once again Trebelhorn took off at the drop of the green flag. The cars were all tight behind him, some got a better grip on the top side and some thought the bottom was going to give them traction. Lap by lap, Trebelhorn held on for an exciting win. Larson took second with Pessek trailing him to the finish and Dan Eckblad took fouth. AJ Zimmerman rounded out the top five.
The Ottomotive Tire & Repair IMCA Modifieds had a tough time getting going also as there were three yellow flags on the first lap. The first was for newcomer Joe Roberts as his left front wheel broke, then the 13l of Zach Schultz brought out a caution and he left the track. The following start Wayne Govig brought out the caution once again and he left the track the following lap. Clint Hatlestad was the early leader of the race but it only lasted for five laps as Trent Loverude got by him and wasn’t going to let him regain the lead. By the last two laps of the race Loverude was able to distance himself as lapped traffic played a part. On the white flag lap, Chad Porter got around Hatlestad to take second place as Loverude won the race.
