Tigers down A’s in 7

SPRINGFIELD — The Springfield Tigers cruised to a 13-0 win over the St. James Athletics on Friday night in a Tomahawk East League amateur baseball game.

The game ended in seven innings due to the 10-run lead rule.

The Tigers put together an eight-run fourth inning to make it an 11-0 game before adding two more runs in the fifth.

Brandon Wilhelmi had a seven-inning shutout and no-hitter for the Tigers on the mound. He struck out seven and didn’t allow a walk either.

Tyler Hach led the Springfield bats, going 4 for 4 with a double and an RBI, while Decker Scheffler was 1 for 3 with a homer and three RBIs. Ashtin Johnson was 2 for 4 with a triple and an RBI also for the Tigers, while Jacob Poehler was 1 for 3 with a double and four RBIs and Jordan Milbrath was 1 for 2 with two RBIs.

David Bradley took the loss for St. James in 3 1/3 innings, allowing nine hits and a walk for 11 runs, two earned, while striking out one. TaShawn Parker pitched 1 2/3 innings in relief, allowing two hits and a walk for two earned runs while striking out two, while Connor Jones got an inning in relief and allowed no hit, no walks and no runs while striking out one.

Springfield (2-1) is at New Ulm for a 5 p.m. TEL game on Sunday, while St. James (2-1) is at Gibbon for a 5 p.m. TEL game Sunday.
