Gibbon grabs win over Sleepy Eye
GIBBON — The Gibbon Reds pulled out a 7-4 win over the Sleepy Eye Indians on Memorial Day Monday in a Tomahawk East League amateur baseball game.
Nolan Huiras was 2 for 5 with an RBI to lead Gibbon (1-2, TEL) at the plate, while Dominic Rose and Brendan Kienlen each had a homer. Kienlen had two RBIs, while Rose had one. Ethan Schwarzrock also had a double and an RBI for the Reds. Huiras also got the win in seven innings of work, allowing seven hits and six walks for one earned run while striking out 11.
Sleepy Eye (1-2, TEL), which put two runs up in the top of the ninth but fell short, was led by Jake Mielke and Nick Mielke, who each were 2 for 4 at the plate. Nick Mielke also had two RBIs, while Owen Weiss doubled and had an RBI. Nick Mielke took the loss in five innings, allowing six hits and four walks for four earned runs while striking out two.
