NEW ULM — Jace Schaefer allowed just five hits through six innings and the New Ulm Brewers took advantage of six Lake Crystal errors to blank the Lakers 10-0 in a nonleague amateur baseball game at Johnson Park.

The game was stopped after eight innings because of the 10-run lead rule.

Schaefer fanned two in his stint. Logan Sandgren finished the last two innings.

Jude Etter took the loss for the Lakers. He went five innings and was charged with seven runs on four hits.

Ethan Thompson led the Brewers with three hits and two RBIs.

The Brewers, who host Stark Sunday at 5 p.m. at Johnson Park in a Tomahawk East League game, pushed three runs across in the bottom of the first on just one hit — that being a Thompson triple. But the Brewers were aided by an error and two walks.

New Ulm added a run in the third when Andrew Peters walked and went to second on an Etter error. He scored on a Sam Keckeisen sacrifice fly.

The Brewers made it 7-0 in the bottom of the fourth.

Logan Mielke walked and Parker Neubauer singled. Both runners moved up on a Lucas Suess sacrifice bunt. An error scored a run before a Colton Schaefer sacrifice fly and a Peters single closed out the scoring in the inning.

A fielder’s choice produced a run to make it 9-0 in the seventh and a Thompson RBI single in the home half of the eighth ended the contest.

Starting at $4.50/week.
