ARLINGTON — The Arlington Raceway kicked off the 45th season on May 3 with repeat winners in each division as they all showcased their quick driving skills to pick up the wins on the new track surface.

Jordan Robinson, last year’s Jack Pines Resort IMCA Hobby point runner up, started on the front row next to Scott Porter. Robinson took the lead and on the second lap a yellow flag came out for the 15 of Porter. He was able to resume, but two laps later went into the pit area. By then Blake Luinenburg, making his debut in his new car took, over the lead and remained the leader to win the race, his first stout contender was Chad Volk as he and Cory Probst started in the fifth row side by side and after the yellow flag both were able to gain laps as the two had quite a race going on. With three laps to go, Probst got around Volk but Luinenburg sailed past the checkered flag before Probst to win the race. Volk held on for third ahead of Brad Becker. Becker also won the Hess Technology best appearing car award this class.

Gary Schumacher led the entire Coors Light IMCA Sport Compact race from start to finish in the caution free race to pick up the win. Justin Dose who had a solid second and also won the Hess Technology Best Appearing car contest in this class.

Dan Eckblad continued his winning ways as he managed to get to the front of the field in the Olson Snowplowing & Lawn Care Outlaw hobby feature by lap seven in the caution free race. Craig Groebner held the lead up until lap seven as Eckblad had moved up eight spots to battle with Groebner. In the end there was distance between the two as lapped traffic got in the way of Groebner gaining on Eckblad. Veteran driver Bill Braunworth took third place ahead of Rod Manthey. Eckblad also won the Hess Technology Car Award in this class.

Broddy Enter drew the top spot in the Arlington State Bank IMCA Northern Sport Modified feature and that is where he stayed the entire race holding off last y ears point champion Matt Looft for the win. There was quite a battle behind them Brent Reierson and Zac Davis were both racing hard but by lap 12 Looft had passed Davis and was trying to work on Enter but ran out of laps as Enter took the checkered. Looft took second ahead of Davis and Reierson took fourth. Looft won the Hess Technology Best Appearing Car Award.

Jeremy Snow was the early leader in the Rice Companies IMCA Sprint feature, on lap one there was a yellow flag for a spinning car in turn three, then the following lap, two cars hit an infield tire taking them out of the race. On the restart, once again Snow took the lead but yet another yellow came out when the 22 Cole Allen spun in turn two and caught Snow also. On the restart, Trevor Serbus who had been in second took over the race with Brandon Allen sliding through the corners to gain on Serbus. With two laps to go, the 1300 of Brett Allen got around Snow to take over the 3rd spot from him. Serbus won the first-place trophy and also the Hess Technology Best Appearing Car Award.

Twenty-one cars began the B&B Racing Chassis IMCA Stock Car feature but they didn’t all finish. Gage Seehausen was the early leader as he drew the top spot and started along the 30z of Mark Zimmerman. There were two yellow flags on lap four, the first one when the 24 spun out. On the restart, the 30z of Mark Zimmerman got a little too high going into turn one and rolled his car which caused a great deal of body damage. Mark was ok but out of the race. Matt Schauer who had led the race the prior lap gave up his place on the restart when Dan Mackenthun got around him to take over the race and lead for the next 15 laps to win the race. Dan Eckblad doing double duty took second ahead of Matt Looft and Schauer was able to hold on for fourth place. Looft also won the Hess Technology Best Appearing car award.

Dan Menk was the early leader in the Ottomotive Tire & Repair IMCA Modified feature but was only able to lead for the first two laps as the #5 of Brandon Beckendorf came from behind and took over the race. A yellow came out on lap 13 which saw Jason Schroeder and Chad Porter go into the pit area. On the restart, Trent Loverude got by Menk with Todd Stinehart following suit and that is how the race finished six laps later. Clint Hatlestad won the Hess Technology Best Appearing Car Award.
