WATERTOWN, Wis. -On Monday, MLC softball finished its 2025 season with a pair of their best performances all year as they beat Maranatha Baptist on the road in a doubleheader 21-5 in game one and 12-2 in game two.

Game 1

MLC 21, MBU 5

Game 1 of the day featured numerous season highs for MLC in individual and team categories at the plate. The Knights crushed their previous season-high totals in runs scored (21), hits (20), and got production from up and down the lineup. Anna Busch had a career high in hits (4), while three MLC players recorded three-hit games (Hannah Ott, Chloe Berg, and Emma Frey).

Berg finished with four RBIs to lead MLC, which was a career high for the first baseman as Ott, Busch and Katie Rassat drove in three RBIs apiece. Joining them in multi-RBI games were Chloe Koschnitzke, Rachel McCaughna and Frey, who each had two.

The offensive success started to get going once Berg lined a triple to left field in the first, bringing in one of the Knights’ two runs in the inning. From there, MLC seized control and posted three runs in the third, while scoring eight in the fourth and fifth innings to enforce the eight-run rule over Maranatha.

Jess Horn was on the hill and earned the win, allowing two runs on five hits in 4.2 innings.

Game 2

MLC 12, MBU 2

The second contest of the doubleheader went in favor of the Knights as well, but the Sabercats gave MLC more of a fight, making it a 2-1 game in the bottom of the second. Both teams added to their total in the third frame, with the Knights scoring three runs, while Maranatha put up another run to cut it to 5-2.

After a scoreless inning in the fourth from both sides, MLC sealed the sweep with seven runs in the top of the fifth that included a pair of triples via Rassat and Horn. As a result, MLC was able to wrap up the game in five innings again for their first sweep of the season.

The MLC played well defensively too, committing no errors in the field for the second time this season.

Horn went the distance and allowed just two runs and threw four strikeouts on the mound in her last collegiate start.

Rassat led the Knights with three RBIs and went 2 for 4 with two runs scored. McCaughna went 2 for 3 at the plate with two RBIs, while Koschnitzke paced the team in hits (3) and two runs scored. A couple more MLC players finished with multi-runs scored, including Ott (2) and Berg (3).

Starting at $4.50/week.
