Black Frost Distillery partners with NIL Collective to support Mavericks men’s hockey

Press release

MANKATO — The newly formed Maverick Line Change Collective was founded to create an avenue for Minnesota State University (MSU) student-athletes to make positive contributions to businesses and the local community, while receiving compensation and growing their respective brands.

Black Frost Distilling and the Maverick Line Change Collective, an organization dedicated to empowering college athletes through Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) opportunities, announced their partnership Tuesday. This collaboration aims to elevate the college hockey experience for athletes at Minnesota State University, Mankato, and the Maverick Hockey fan experience.

“As a distillery, we are passionate about crafting unique flavors that resonate with our community. Creating the Maverick Line Change Seltzer isn’t just about creating a refreshing drink–it’s about celebrating teamwork and the spirit of the game,” said Jace Marti, Co-Founder, Black Frost Distilling. “We’re blending tradition with innovation, and we can’t wait to share this product with the community and Maverick Hockey fans.”

Maverick Line Change Seltzer hits the shelves this week and will quickly expand to entertainment venues, liquor stores, bars, and restaurants throughout Greater Mankato.

“We believe in the power of collaboration, both in crafting spirits and supporting our community,” said Nate Gieseke, Co-Founder, Black Frost Distilling. “Developing a seltzer for the NIL hockey team collective combines our passion for quality with the energy of the game,” said Gieseke. “We’re proud to offer a product that captures the spirit of the game, while celebrating our student athletes and our community.”

“Through the generosity of Black Frost, a portion proceeds from the sale of the Maverick Line Change Seltzer will support MSU Men’s Hockey athletes who are in their pursuit of educational and athletic excellence,” said Michelle Schooff, Maverick Line Change Collective Board Chair. “We are proud to partner with Black Frost Distilling and are excited about the opportunity to help our student athletes monetize their name, image and likeness.”

“The support for the Maverick Line Change Collective we’ve received from businesses like Black Frost Distilling has been nothing short of incredible,” said Luke Strand, Mavericks men’s hockey head coach. “It’s a testament to the passion and dedication of our fans and local businesses, who truly believe in our student- athletes and their potential,” said Strand. “This partnership not only creates opportunities for our team but also fosters a deeper connection between hockey and our community. Together, we’re building a bright future for our players and for Minnesota State University Hockey.”
