Area roundup: Eagles fly back to defeat Saints

New Ulm 22, St. Peter 18
ST. PETER — The New Ulm Eagles battled back to defeat the St. Peter Saints 22-18 on Friday night in a South District, Central-Red Subdistrict football game.
The Eagles trailed 12-7 at halftime and scored their final touchdown with less than two minutes to play on a touchdown run by Zach Hubbard, who had two touchdown carries total in the win. The Eagles also got a touchdown pass of 7 yards from Owen Castleman to Tanner Backer in the third quarter.
New Ulm (4-2) is at Jordan on Friday.
Springfield 48, St. James 12
ST. JAMES — Springfield rolled by St. James Area 48-12 in a South District, West-South Subdistrict football game on Friday.
Parker Kuehn had 223 yards passing with four touchdowns and an interception, while Gavin Vanderwerf had 204 yards rushing. Madden Lendt had three receptions for 70 yards and three touchdowns, while Isaac Fredin had eight receptions for 61 yards. Lucas Milbrath had the other receiving touchdown for Springfield, with Adiel Trevino and Aiden Moriarty adding scores on the ground.
Defensively, Vanderwerf had nine tackles and an interception, Moriarty had eight tackles and a sack, and Joe Nachreiner and Trevino also adding sacks. Milbrath and Fredin had an interception each.
Springfield (6-0) plays at Martin County West on Thursday.
Cedar Mountain 46, Edgerton 34
EDGERTON — Cedar Mountain downed Edgerton 46-34 in a Nine-man South District, West Subdistrict football game on Friday.
Carson Schiller was 22 for 32 for the Cougars, throwing for 322 yards and five touchdowns. Jackson Guetter had six receptions for 131 yards and three scores while adding 12 rushes for 52 yards and another touchdown. Blake Steffl had 10 receptions for 133 yards and a touchdown, while Easton Csordacsics had four catches for 45 yards and a TD. Guetter added a pick-6 on defense for Cedar Mountain.
Cedar Mountain (3-3, 3-3) hosts Nicollet on Thursday.
NOTE: Also on Friday, Jackson County Central defeated Minnesota Valley Lutheran 64-8, Randolph downed Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop 47-6, Mountain Lake Area defeated Madelia 52-0 and Houston rolled Nicollet 68-28. No statistics were reported for these Journal area teams.
PREP VOLLEYBALL
Wabasso 3, RRC 0
WABASSO — Wabasso swept Red Rock Central 25-14, 25-16, 25-10 in a nonconference volleyball match on Friday.
Alivia Olson led the Rabbits with 18 kills and seven digs, while Audrey Johnson had nine digs and three aces. Sara Carlson added 28 set assists and five digs.
Wabasso (17-9) travels to Springfield on Tuesday.
