MADELIA — Cathedral shut out Madelia in a 48-0 win in Nine-man South District, West Subdistrict football play on Friday.
Jake Finstad had 6 carries for 88 yards for Cathedral with a touchdown and was 4 of 6 passing with 83 yards and two touchdowns, while Josh Bentler had 11 carries for 68 yards. Colin Anderson had three rushing touchdowns and had two receptions, including a 24-yard touchdown. Ryan Koopman had a 42-yard touchdown reception.
On defense, Joe Gillis had 14 tackles, Joe Schugel had eight tackles and a sack. Finstad had four tackles and an interception, and Anderson had two interceptions. Koopman added another interception. Kaden Olson had four tackles and a sack.
No stats were reported for Madelia.

SHERBURN — Wabasso defeated Wabasso 12-6 in overtime Friday in a South District, West-South Subdistrict football game.
Sam Zeug and Calvin Hanna led the Rabbits in rushing, both totalling 56 yards. Drew Kemp was 8 for 15 with 95 yards, two touchdowns and an interception, with Hanna picking up 67 yards receiving. Zach Skoblik had a 13-yard touchdown reception, and Nolan Leopold had the game-winning 10-yard receiving touchdown in overtime.
Masen Kampsen led the defense with six total tackles and a sack, while Truman Gilbertson had nine total tackles. Zeke Olson added a sack.
Wabasso (2-3, 1-3) hosts Windom on Saturday, Oct. 5.

WESTBROOK — Nicollet rolled by Westbrook-Walnut Grove 62-12 in a Nine-man South District, West Subdistrict football play on Friday.

WINTHROP — Mayer Lutheran downed Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop 21-16 in a Mid Southeast District, West Subdistrict football game Friday.
Cole Jacobson had 91 yards passing with a touchdown, while Owen Swenson had 78 yards rushing with a score and 85 yards receiving with a score. Garett Stegeman added 66 yards rushing.
Defensively, Dominick Krumwiede had 10 total tackles, while Swenson and Mason Ahlbrecht had seven total tackles. Jacobson added an interception.
GFW (2-3, 2-3) travels to Randolph on Friday.
HBC 42, Cedar Mountain 8
MORGAN — Hills-Beaver Creek rolled by Cedar Mountain 42-8 in a Nine-Man South District, West Subdistrict football game Friday.
Carson Schiller was 19-38 with 175 yards and a touchdown in the game, with Zach Sandgren getting six catches for 67 yards and a score. Blake Steffl had seven receptions for 56 yards, while Easton Csordiacics had five catches for 84 yards. On defense, Steffl had 11 tackles while Jackson Guetter had 10 tackles.
Cedar Mountain (2-3) travels to Edgerton on Friday.

Redwood Valley 3, Wabasso 2
REDWOOD FALLS — Redwood Valley battled Wabasso to a five-set win on Friday afternoon in nonconference volleyball action, winning 25-22, 17-25, 31-29, 19-25, 15-12.
Wabasso was led by Alivia Olson’s 22 kills, 15 digs and two aces, while Carly Fenger had 13 kills and two blocks and Camryn Irlbeck had nine kills and three blocks. Audrey Johnson had 22 digs also for Wabasso, whole Britta Brand had 15 digs, Emma Salfer had 10 digs and Sara Carlson had 52 set assists.
Wabasso (16-8) is at Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart for a conference matchup next on Tuesday.
