ST. PAUL — For the second consecutive week, Martin Luther College’s Tom Balge has been awarded Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week (9/9-9/15) representing the MLC football squad. Balge was a key component to the Knights’ 10-7 win against Macalester on Saturday evening. The junior recorded 10 tackles and an interception for a Knights defense that allowed just one touchdown and only 255 yards of total offense. The defense forced a few crucial turnover on downs in the final moments of the game to guide MLC to a 2-0 start.

Balge and the Knights will aim to keep things going against Augsburg next Saturday, Sept. 21. The game will kick off at 1 p.m. in the MLC football bowl.
