MLP All-Star Series to feature several area baseball players
The Minnesota Legion Prospects All-Star Series, being held Aug. 9-11 at Reynolds Field in Roseville, Minnesota, will showcase several legion and junior legion baseball talents in Minnesota and five area players will join in the festivities.
Sleepy Eye Post 7 outfielder Talan Helget will join the senior All-Stars in the Legion Prospect All-Stars Series, while Springfield Post 257 will be represented in the senior series by first baseman Noah Neperman. Sibley East catcher Nate Colling will also be a Senior All-Star.
The Legion Prospect Select Series 2024 will feature Sleepy Eye catcher Carson Uecker and shortstop Merrick Mathiowetz as Junior All-Stars, while Madelia shortstop Tate Becker will also join the mix. Sleepy Eye Junior Legion head coach Brandon Streich and Madelia’s Ben Jacobs will also help coach in the Select Series.
The series was created as an All-Star event to showcase the next-level talent from the state of Minnesota across an All-Star weekend of tournament action. Players are nominated by their coaches and the players selected are formed into six teams comprised of 13-14 players chosen by position. All games will take place on the turf field and will be broadcast live by Youth Sports Plus.
