Chris Pack enters NSIC Hall of Fame

BLOOMINGTON — It was a Pack-punched ticket at the DoubleTree by Hilton Bloomington-Minneapolis South for the NSIC Summer Kickoff event on Tuesday, as Southwest Minnesota State University baseball alumnus Chris Pack was inducted into the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Hall of Fame.

Pack was a member of the SMSU baseball program from 1995 to 1998. In his four-year career, the Lamberton native was a four-year letter winner and four-time All-NSIC first team all-conference honoree. Pack still holds the SMSU career records for wins (28), complete games (27) and innings pitched (274.1).

As a freshman, Pack led the conference with a 1.23 earned run average in conference play and was named the NSIC Pitcher of the Year in 1995, the first year the award was handed out.

Pack finished his senior season with a 9-2 record and a 3.12 ERA in 78 innings pitched, which helped him be named a 1998 ABCA first team All-Region honoree. Pack’s nine wins along with his 78 strikeouts in that season still stand as single-season records in program history. SMSU finished with a school record 33 wins in 1998 and a runner-up finish in both the NSIC regular season standings and conference tournament.

Pack was inducted into the SMSU Athletics Hall of Honor in 2009. He has taught math and been the head boys’ basketball coach at Hayfield High School for 24 years and been the Activities Director the last 12 years. He and his wife Linda have four children: Rachel (22), Ethan (20), Seth (17) and Nolan (14).

Rounding out the rest of the Class of 2024 includes: Bryan Lippincott, Concordia University, St. Paul; John Alin, Minnesota State University Moorhead; Carly Boag, Minot State University, Matt Meuleners, Northern State University; Shamus O’Grady, St. Cloud State University and the 2008-09 Minnesota State Women’s Basketball Team.

Starting at $4.38/week.
