Essig takes down Searles in seven
ESSIG — The Essig Bluejays rolled the Searles Grizzlies 12-2 in seven innings Tuesday in a Tomahawk East League amateur baseball game.
The game was called after seven innings due to the 10-run rule.
Eric Scheibel got the win for Essig, striking out one while allowing two runs on five hits in seven innings. At the plate, Nick Stadick was 3 for 4 with an RBI while Winsten Nienhaus was 2 for 4 with three RBIs. Zach Riederer, Jake Stadick and Erich Prokosch each had two hits, with Prokosch adding an RBI.
Matt Reiger took the loss for Searles, striking out one while allowing seven runs on seven hits in three innings. At the plate, Gavin Torvick was 1 for 2 with an RBI, while Noah Wilmes, Josh Johnson, Kasey Kuck and Bradyn Kube each had a hit.
Essig (4-7) plays at Stark on Sunday, while Searles (2-9) hosts Sleepy Eye on Wednesday, July 10.
