TEL roundup: Brewers stay perfect with shutout of Tigers

SPRINGFIELD — The New Ulm Brewers defeated the Springfield Tigers 6-0 Sunday in a Tomahawk East League amateur baseball game.

Mitch Bockenstedt was the winning pitcher, striking out 13 in a five-hit, complete-game shutout. At the plate for New Ulm, Sam Keckeisen was 2 for 4 with two RBIs, while Cole Ranweiler was 1 for 6 with three RBIs. Hunter Ranweiler, Andrew Peters, Brody Peterson and Josh Seidl each had two hits.

Jordan Milbrath took the loss for Springfield, striking out four and allowing two runs on six hits in 4 2/3 innings. At the plate, Ryan Sturm was 2 for 4 for the Tigers.

New Ulm (6-0) is scheduled to play at Sleepy Eye on Friday. Springfield (4-3) is scheduled to play at Leavenworth on Wednesday.

Essig 5, Sleepy Eye 1

SLEEPY EYE — The Essig Bluejays downed the Sleepy Eye Indians 5-1 in a Tomahawk East League amateur baseball game on Sunday.

Hunter Sehr got the win for the Bluejays, striking out four while allowing four hits and one unearned run in six innings pitched. At the plate, Jay Helget was 2 for 4, with two runs scored, while Erich Prokosch was 1 for 3 with an RBI. Sehr was 1 for 3 with two runs scored.

Nick Mielke took the loss for the Indians, striking out three while allowing seven hits and five runs in seven innings. Luke Mielke was 1 for 4 with an RBI at the plate.

Essig (3-3) is scheduled to host Stark on Wednesday. Sleepy Eye (3-5) is scheduled to host New Ulm on Friday.
